2018 Reunion Optional Activities

Please note, the optional agenda is separate from the USS Albert David Reunion and participation is voluntary. Cost for these activities are the responsibility of the individual crew members. Crew members may pick and chose which and how many stops they make. In past reunions these optional agenda trips have been very successful and a lot of fun. Everyone is welcome! Come join us!

Here is the itinerary for all trips planned prior and after the San Antonio USS Albert David Reunion:

This hotel is ideally located, off the 35E, with transportation all around city.  Friday the 12th, will do all the JFK sights and explore.  Saturday the 13th,  Bush 43 Library and explore more.  Depart on Sunday October 14th.  We booked the hotel through AAA got a good rate.


Waco: Arrive:  Sunday October 14th – Depart:  Tuesday October 16th

This hotel is off the 35E, Waco is halfway between Dallas and San Antonio, approximately hour and a half to two hour drive.  If you can, book asap, when trying to get a room, a lot of the hotels were already full. We booked through Marriott Rewards and got good rate.   All sightseeing.  Going to see Chip and Joanna, and all their places.  We’ve been told from friends having been, that it’s a must to try her cupcakes.  The area with the Silos and shops is fun.  Off to see the Davidian Museum, where Waco became famous for the  actions by the government (not being political).  If you haven’t been watching the mini series Waco do, it’s very good.  Lots of antiquing  and Baylor University. 


San Antonio Reunion:  Arrive: Tuesday October 16th – Depart: Saturday October 20th


Houston/Clear Lake:  Arrive:  Saturday October 20th – Depart:  Monday October 22nd

“Houston, we have a problem”, off to the Houston Space Center.  We booked this hotel through IHG.com. With our arrival on Saturday, will do Space Center Central all day Sunday.    Hours: 10am-6pm.  Go to Houston Space Center online, purchase your tickets there.  Cost: Senior $27.95, less $5.00 if you are a AAA member, there is also a Senior audio tour $34.00, less $5.00 if AAA member.  The hour and half tram ride is included in this price.  They do have group rates, so if there are 20 of us or more, will contact them directly.  There is also available the Houston City Pass, with gives you 4 attractions and discount pricing.  Downtown Aquarium, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Zoo or Fine Arts, Children’s Museum.


Galveston:  Arrive:  Monday October 22nd – Depart: Wednesday October 24th

“Galveston oh Galveston”, sightseeing we go.  We have never been, and don’t know when headed back to Texas, want to see and experience as much as possible.  The hotel is in the historic area, there are tours, boat rides, etc. to do.  We will depart for Houston the morning of the 24th to Houston Hobby Airport approximately, an hour and half from Galveston.  Home we go.


Any one is welcome to join us, even if you can’t stay for the time periods we’ve allocated.
